A VERY OLD ADVERTISING JOKE

An art director, copywriter and account guy all get into a taxicab to go to a client presentation.

The copywriter sees an old brass lamp on the floor of the cab. He picks it up and rubs it, and a genie pops out. “Thank you for giving me my freedom, Master,” the genie says. “I will now grant each of you one wish.”

The copywriter says, “Gee, I’ve always dreamed of living on a tropical island and writing novels.” And with a puff of smoke, the copywriter is transported to his tropical island.

The genie turns to the art director. “What is your wish, Madam?”

She thinks for a moment. “I would love a studio in Paris where I can paint full time!” And in an instant, the art director finds herself in Paris with a paintbrush in her hand.

The genie then turns to the account guy. “And what is your wish, Master?”

The account guy says, “Get those guys back here! We’ve got a presentation!”
